Dachshunds are loved by everyone. Well, who wouldn't love these
short-legged and elongated dog breed? They are so cute and
everybody just loves to have them as pets. But before actually
deciding to bring home your new Dachshund, you must carefully
understand its characteristics and needs to evaluate if this breed
is the right one for you.

Some Labrador dogs are unfortunate enough to have been born with a
disease. Surely you do not want to acquire disease even before you
were born, am I right? But then, things happen whether we want it
or not. We inherit things we sometimes don’t want to have, things
such as horrid characteristics and diseases.

Among other breeds of dog, Shih Tzus and Pugs are more likely to
obtain keratoconjunctivitis. Keratoconjunctivitis is a Latin word
which literally means dryness of the cornea and conjunctiva. It is
commonly known as dry eye.

This dog breed which originated from China, a Shih Tzu needs your
care and attention more than any other breed of his kind. It is
often well known for its long, flowing double coat, compulsory for
conformation shows.

The Chihuahua (pronounced "Chee-wa-wa") is one of the oldest and
most popular dog breeds in the world. He is also the smallest
canine bred today. At his maximum height, he stands only 9 inches
at the shoulders; however, most Chihuahuas are usually in around
6-8 inches high. Commonly referred to as a "Chi", the Chihuahua is
a native of Mexico and comes in different colors and two coat
varieties: smooth hair and long haired.

The Pomeranian is a small fluff ball that looks like a miniature
lion. His double coat that can be colored orange, red, brown,
cream, white, blue or black, and his small erect ears, are his most
distinctive features. Although his coat is beautiful, it does shed
plenty of fur and will require daily grooming to keep it free from
mats and knots.

The Shih Tzu (pronounced “Sheet-sue”) has a lot of spunk and is a
very alert and resilient dog. Like all dogs in the Toy dog group,
Shih Tzus have a lot of character and are courageous for their
size. Throughout history they were raised as pampered pooches in
the Imperial Chinese Court. Bred in the forbidden city of Peking,
the Shih Tzu didn’t leave China until the early 20th century when
they first appeared in Britain. Today they are a popular breed
worldwide.

The Weimaraner (pronounced “Vie-mare-ron-er”) is a sleek looking,
large dog. He stands between 24 to 27 inches at the shoulder, and
weighs as much as 70 pounds. Weimaraners are strong, athletic
Sporting dogs, covered in a smooth, short gray coat. In fact, even
their eyes are gray. Gray is the most distinctive feature of this
breed.

The Bichon Frise (pronounced “Bee-Shone Freeze”) is a curly
all-white dog with a puffball appearance and a very puffy head. It
has been around since the 1300’s, and throughout their history they
have been popular among Italian sailors, the Italian and French
royal courts, and eventually with French street performers. Their
name “Bichon Frise” is in reference to their curly white coat.

Many assume that, because the Yorkie is such a small dog, it will
have few needs. This is not true. As with any breed, the Yorkie has
elements that may make it your perfect pet... or the worst choice
you could make. Before deciding on any dog, you must consider
certain aspects.
