Christmas would have to be my favorite time of the year.

Sometimes life gets pretty tough and dark and a term sometimes
used “Walking the dark night of the soul” isn’t far from the truth.
It’s during this time a sense of loneliness might be experienced;
there’s no-one around to provide comfort or support and we think to
ourselves no-one understands and cry “I’ve tried everything” and
struggle to find the switch to turn the light back on.

Recently my husband and I decided it was time to tell our son he
had ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder). The reason for this was
because he’s more mature (just turned 13 years old) and very soon
he’ll be starting high school. We felt it better to come from us
than through someone else.

Once again my son is motivated, confident, and feeling good
about himself. Not only that, he now has a greater understanding of
what’s expected of him, is more calm and relaxed as well as
centred, balanced and coherent.

There are some things in life I’d much rather not be doing and
this slightly tongue-in-cheek article is about one of them.
