It has been many years since we have experienced the true
meaning of family in the media. Years ago there were television
programs that offered however so gently, honest, home grown values,
beliefs and characters so true you felt like they were family. What
happen to the days of watching sincere people, portray honorable
characters and live humble lives? Is it old fashion to still enjoy
the Andy Griffith Show, the Waltons, and the Cosby Show?

When does it all end? Why does there always seem to be some foul
drug unleashed to eradicate the family unit? Perhaps it was not
done by design; however there are some who would probably argue
that point. When it comes to drug abuse everyone, including the
user, the parents, the children, the grandparents, cousins, aunts,
uncles, everybody suffers, leaving families confused and
fragmented.

It is not a secret that parents are sometimes not the easiest
people to get along with or understand. They come in all shapes and
sizes, all races and cultures. So is there any wonder why teachers
and parents sometimes hit a bump as they together travel down the
proverbial path called education. Everyone involved in the
educational process must be reminded that each is looking at their
concerns from a different vantage point and although neither is
wrong, they are often different.

level enable families to share their time and talents to support
the school, teachers, and students. It matters not if volunteers
are working at the school, in the classroom or in the community,
they are essential to promoting parent involvement and student
achievement.

There’s an old saying that goes a bit like this, “If I knew
better, I would do better.” Today parents are grappling with issues
that no generation has experienced before. No one could have
foreseen the effect television and computers have had on our
society. Children are being exposed to everything, whether they are
ready to understand it or not. There is a profound helplessness in
the eyes of many parents as they desperately attempt to shield
their children from the vile reality of life.
